GaN Chargers Explained: Smaller, Cooler and Faster
Why gallium nitride chargers are replacing old bricks — and how many watts you really need.
GaN (gallium nitride) is a material that handles power more efficiently than traditional silicon. The result: chargers that are smaller, run cooler and deliver more watts.
How many watts do you need?
- Phone only: 20–30 W
- Phone + tablet: 45 W
- Laptop + phone: 65 W or more
Use a good cable
For anything above 60 W, use a USB-C cable with an E-marker chip rated for 100 W.
